Stolen From Africa / Volé D'Afrique is a Black-led, nationally incorporated nonprofit cultural and educational organization rooted in the histories, experiences, creativity and possibilities of the African Diaspora.

Since 2004, our mission has been grounded in restoring the cultural and historical integrity of the African Diaspora while creating opportunities for young people to deepen identity, strengthen agency and build meaningful relationships.

What began as a statement printed on a T-shirt became a movement:

Curiosity → Conversation → Dialogue → Understanding → Community

Today, SFA works at the intersection of culture, education, identity, relationships, storytelling, community and agency.We don't look at youth achievement, behaviour or challenges in isolation. We ask a deeper question:

What conditions allow people to flourish?

Through hip-hop, history, art, digital media, storytelling and lived experience, we create environments where young people can feel recognized, explore who they are, understand what they have inherited, reclaim what has been interrupted and participate in creating what comes next.

How We Work

1. CONNECT — Relationship First We create safe, welcoming environments where students feel recognized and respected. Positive relationships are the foundation for learning.

2. INSPIRE — Culture as the Entry Point We use music, fashion, film, and history to make learning relevant—opening conversations about identity, equity, and well-being.

3. ACTIVATE — Student Leadership in Action We help young people translate self-awareness into positive choices, peer mentorship, and meaningful community contribution.
